With exceptional levels of both business and leisure traffic in the fourth quarter, the Coral Oriental Dubai is experiencing a record year with business coming from both established and new markets, according to General Manager Tony Homsi.
He said the latest visitor figures issued by the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing demonstrated the scale of the growth city-wide, with overall growth in the first half of 2012 of 10 per cent compared to the previous year, while visitor numbers from Saudi Arabia alone rose 40 per cent and travellers from Russia were up 51 per cent.
"All hotels in Dubai are benefiting from the expansion of air access and the transformation of the city from a stopover and beach destination to one that caters for all markets, all requirements," he said.
"City hotels are now in demand, offering competitive rates and convenient access to all the retail and tourist sites as well as shuttle transfers to the beaches - the Metro has certainly opened up Dubai to the benefit of business guests and leisure travellers alike."
And, while the Coral Oriental has seen high occupancies throughout 2012, the last quarter is proving particularly lucrative for average room rates, added Mr Homsi.
"The hotel rates in Dubai are far more appealing than a few years ago when they became disproportionately high and discouraged visitors. It is good to see a steady stabilization in rates across all types of hotels and apartments, reflecting the value for money that the quality of accommodation in the city merits.
"Events such as the two-week Eid spectacular which attracted around half a million visitors are sustaining the global interest in Dubai as a destination."
